Wayne Tyni is a Class A PGA Member with more than 40 years of experience in golf instruction. He has served as the Head Golf Professional at Van Nuys Golf Course since 1997, bringing decades of expertise and a deep commitment to player development.
Wayne is dedicated to helping each student achieve their individual goals through a personalized, results‑driven approach to instruction.
Background and Experience
Wayne began playing golf at the age of seven at Van Nuys Golf Course. Remarkably, he later returned to the same facility as its Head Golf Professional, a role he continues to hold today.
He attended California State University, Northridge on a full golf scholarship, earning All‑American honors for two years and competing in the NCAA Division II National Championship. After graduating in 1989, Wayne launched his teaching career at North Ranch Country Club, where he further developed his instructional philosophy and professional foundation.
Wayne has been a Class A PGA Member since 1995 and is a Level 1 Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified Instructor, reflecting his commitment to continued education and modern, performance‑based coaching methods.
Outside of golf, Wayne enjoys spending time with his family and staying active through biking, skiing, and other outdoor pursuits.
